Poultry suffocated in a fire in Šilale district
On Wednesday evening, a fire broke out in an outbuilding in the village of Bijoti (Šilalė district), where poultry suffocated.
The fire was reported at 18:53. When the firefighters arrived, the roof of a 9x9 metre brick outbuilding was on fire. The building had a wooden roof with wooden slabs and a reed roof, and was subjoined to a 9x9 metre wooden shed. There was also a 9x3 metre woodshed next door.
The fire completely burnt the roof of the outbuilding, severely scorched the roof structures and damaged the hay stored on them. The woodshed behind the house was also burnt. Inside the building, 10 chickens suffocated.
The fire was extinguished at 20:13. The circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
