Austrian agricultural implements manufacturer "Pöttinger" has announced that it is laying off 200 workers and putting another 450 on unpaid leave, according to media reports in the country.

Like other major manufacturer „Fendt“, „Pöttinger“ has been hit by a crisis. The overall decline in the agricultural machinery market is around 20%.

According to „OÖ Nachrichten“, 200 out of 1,200 workers will have to register as unemployed for four weeks in the summer. In solidarity with the company's hard times, 450 workers are taking a week of unpaid leave.

The company explained to the Austrian media that it is having to temporarily adjust its production capacity because of a „sharp drop in demand and back orders“. Orders have dropped significantly in the summer. The company expects to restore production capacity in the autumn.

Over the past three years, „Pöttinger“ has seen an increase in turnover from around €400 million to €641 million, but by the end of the 2023-2024 financial year, the decline in turnover will be in the double-digit percentages. Globally, the „Pöttinger“ structures employ 2,166 people.

Earlier, „Pöttinger“ announced that it will not participate in the 2024 SIMA international exhibition in Paris in November 2024.

In Lithuania, „Pöttinger“ products are represented by „SV Technika“.
