Large areas of oilseed rape were damaged by hail. But damage assessment will have to wait (VIDEO)

On 22 April, hailstorms devastated parts of Lithuania, while other parts of the country received very heavy rainfall. Martynas Rusteika, head of the crop mutual fund „VH Lietuva“, has confirmed that rapeseed crops have been badly affected in some places, but urges farmers not to despair.

The earlier the stage of development of a plant, the faster it recovers from the vagaries of nature. We will see the real damage a little later, but the situation in some fields is not encouraging," says Mr Rusteika.

Insurers are now heading to the fields to assess the first losses. The same fields will be visited later. See what really happened on Tuesday in this interview with Martynas Rusteika, head of „VH Lietuva“ on „Agrobitė play“.
