The penalty for completing Plant Protection Product Logs has been abolished (VIDEO)

On Friday, the extended meeting of the Kaunas District Farmers' Union (KRŪS) was attended not only by the Minister of Agriculture Kazys Starkevičius, but also by a rather impressive descendant of the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Paying Agency and the State Crop Production Service.

The farmers raised a number of issues related to compliance with various rules, problematic relations with the National Paying Agency, etc.

K. Mr Starkevičius informed farmers that he had signed an order simplifying the filling in of the logbooks for the use of plant protection products, which will only need to be filled in once a year.

„We have put a noose around our own neck. The European Union does not require us to fill in the logs so often because the EU needs common application rates for plant protection products," Starkevičius argued in favour of the changes.

The ministry is also reportedly preparing changes to the rules on manure management records to remove additional bureaucratic burdens from farmers.
