"New Holland T7.270 Methane Power - the next generation of tractor, but the price is not affordable
„New Holland“ has unveiled one of this year's most important technical innovations, the T7.270 Methane Power tractor, powered by biomethane or compressed natural gas (CNG). This model is now available for orders in Europe, including the Baltic States. It is the first high-performance (270 hp) tractor on the market that is completely diesel-free and allows farms to achieve carbon neutrality or even a negative emissions balance when using locally produced biomethane.
„New Holland“ has been developing alternative fuel technologies for more than a decade, and the T7.270 Methane Power is the second stage after the success of the smaller T6.180 Methane Power model. The new tractor is aimed at medium to large farms where productivity is important, but also where the environment is a concern.
The T7.270 Methane Power is the solution for farms that want to be independent from fossil fuels. The use of biomethane enables a closed energy cycle: the farm produces the gas from organic waste and uses it to power its own machinery,“ notes Darragh Mullin, „New Holland“ product manager for Europe.
According to the company, the methane-powered tractor can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 95%, and with 100% biomethane, – achieve even zero emissions. In addition, noise, vibration and operating costs are reduced.
But the price of this tractor may not be affordable for everyone. The new T7.270 Methane Power model could cost around €140,000 to €200,000 (excluding VAT), depending on the option chosen.
