Tragic end to the search: missing man's body found in a forest
On Thursday, the body of a man who went missing the day before was found in a forest in Kėdainiai district. He is believed to have been fatally injured by a tree.
He was reported missing to the General Emergency Centre at 20:49 on the evening of 8 April by his relatives, who said he had gone to work in the forest and had not returned home.
A search for the man led to the discovery of his car near the forest. On Thursday, at around 12:10 p.m., the body of a 68-year-old man was found in the forest in the village of Žostauti, where he had been found dead, the Police Department reported.
Primary data suggests that the accident may have occurred during forestry work – it is believed that the man was cutting trees when he was fatally injured by an overturned tree.
A pre-trial investigation has been opened to establish the cause of death.
