Calls on farmers to be vigilant
The National Food and Veterinary Office has updated its guidance for farmers on communicable diseases. In a regularly updated header on the VVS website, Updated information on infectious diseases in animals, the VVS is also publishing up-to-date information on biocides that are recommended for use in the disinfection of premises, equipment, sheds, buildings, vehicles and other surfaces. It also includes insecticides recommended for the control of flying and crawling insects.
The recommendations are based on data from experts in Lithuania and abroad and on the latest information about these diseases and outbreaks.
Reminder: any suspicion of bluetongue, foot-and-mouth disease, avian influenza or African swine fever should be reported as soon as possible to your private veterinarian and the VMVT by filling in a questionnaire or by calling the VMVT on the following telephone numbers: 1879 or +370 5 242 0108.
