Will sheep farmers' problems be solved? The debate has finally begun
On Thursday, a roundtable discussion was held between the National Paying Agency and the Lithuanian Sheep Breeders' Association, which was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Agricultural Data Centre. The aim of the discussion was to discuss farmers' questions related to the possibility to participate in the Programme for the Conservation of Endangered Lithuanian Old Breeds of Livestock and Poultry.
Discussions were intensive on issues arising, discrepancies occurring when declaring holdings of livestock, poultry or bee colonies of endangered Lithuanian old breeds.
The participants agreed on concrete actions to be taken to prepare properly for next year's farm animal declarations in order to receive support.
