A man injured by a maize chopper dies in Rokiškis district

A terrible accident happened in the Rokiškis district. In a cornfield, a man was injured by a chopper and later died in hospital, police said.

According to the data of the Chief Police Commissariat of Panevėžys District, at about 17:10, the victim was killed by a crusher. At 17:00 on 17.17.00, in the village of Vakariai, Kriauņi municipality, a „Krone Big“ chipper with a front-mounted chipper-feeder struck a male bystander, born in 1944, with its left edge in a cornfield.

The man suffered injuries to both legs and was taken to hospital.

On Sunday morning, at around 6 a.m., police received a report from the hospital that the injured man had died.

Materials are being collected and the circumstances of the incident are being clarified.
