Illegal trade in plant protection products is detected

Officers of the Economic Crimes Investigation Division of the Criminal Police of the Taurage District Chief Police Commissariat are conducting a pre-trial investigation into possible fraudulent financial accounting and the possible realisation of goods marked with foreign trademarks without authorisation.

During the investigation it has been established that a resident of Šilalė district, born in the town of Šilalė, is a resident of Šilalė district. 1964, was importing plant protection products from Poland and possibly selling them in Lithuania, which were not marked with Lithuanian labels and did not comply with the requirements of legal acts.

On 17 September 2025, during searches of the suspect's shop in the Šilalė district and the suspect's Fiat Ducato truck, 40 pieces of pesticide products were found and seized. 20 l plastic containers with labels „Singlif“, 60 containers of 5 l of product „Zamzar“ and 60 containers of product „Corida“ of 0.1 kg each, and other illegally stored plant protection products, possibly imported from Poland.

Police officials remind that illegal trade in plant protection products poses a danger to the environment, human health and fair competition – such products often do not comply with the safety requirements, can contaminate soil and water, and their use without information in the Lithuanian language is particularly risky.

To be safe and to avoid negative consequences and potential legal liability, farmers should only buy plant protection products from official sellers.
