The milk-purchasing company ‘Dzūkijos pienas’ is making almost all its staff redundant

The milk-purchasing co-operative ‘Dzūkijos pienas’ is making 18 employees, or 90 per cent of its workforce, redundant. The company employs 20 people.

The redundancies are being carried out at the company’s initiative, the Employment Service told BNS. The company told the service that it is making staff redundant due to unprofitable operations. They are expected to be made redundant by the end of this month.

Most of those being made redundant are milk collectors (9) and driver-dispatchers (8).

Last year, ‘Dzūkijos pienas’ generated revenue of €5.5 million – 1.9 per cent more than the year before (€5.4 million), and the company made a net profit of €513 – 8.6 times less (€4,400), according to a report submitted to the Centre of Registers.
