After Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė called for the resignation of Deputy Minister of Agriculture Arūnas Jagminas, a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Agriculture told BNS that Jagminas has not been removed from his post yet.

The STJ is conducting proceedings in connection with possible corruption-related offences committed by the head of the public enterprise „Šilutės sportas“ managed by the Šilutė district municipality. The current Deputy Minister of Agriculture, A. Jagminas, delegated by „Nemuno aušros“, is suspected of possible embezzlement and abuse of assets in this investigation.

The searches were carried out at the deputy minister's home, the STT told Elta.

According to Danguolė Starkuvienė, Head of the Public Relations and Cooperation Division of the Ministry of Agriculture, Minister Andrius Palionis has a day off on Friday after a business trip, so the decision could be taken on Monday.

„The minister could not suspend him now, to my knowledge, the minister has taken an official day off after a business trip, so someone else would have to do it today or... This is very fresh. I think that any decisions, either by the deputy minister himself or by the minister, if there will be any, will be made on Monday," she told BNS.

„So far, the STT has not contacted the Ministry of Agriculture regarding the Deputy Minister. And since we do not have any further official information, we would like to refrain from commenting further,– she added.
