In Kybartai, a man took a hand grenade and a mortar shell from a field with potatoes
A man in the Vilkaviskis district brought explosives from the fields with potatoes on Tuesday, the Fire and Rescue Department (PAGD) reported.
According to the PRT, at 16:03, a man was reported to have brought an explosive from the fields with potatoes in Vilkaviškis district, Kybartai, in Vištyčio street, and a plan „Shield“ was introduced. The deminers arrived and took away the two explosives (a hand grenade and a mortar shell) from the Second World War for destruction.
Last week, firefighters also received reports of explosives found in Šakiai, Jonava, Alytus and Pagėgiai districts.
According to the PRT, at 10.24 a.m. it was reported that in Alytus district, in Fortų Street, a plan „Shield“ was introduced. On arrival, deminers took away the two explosives found for neutralisation. At 10.36 a.m. a report was received that deminers had found explosives during excavation works at a military training ground in the village of Gaižiūnai, Jonava district. Work was being carried out to neutralise part of the explosives.
According to the data of the PRT, at 12:12 it was reported that an explosive device had been found in Gelgaudiškis, West Street, Šakiai District, and a plan "Shield" was introduced. Deminers arrived and took away the found WWII-era mortar mine for destruction.
As reported by the PRT, at 12.54 pm it was informed that a plan "Shield" had been activated in the town of Vilkyškių, Geležinkelio street, Pagėgiai district. It turned out that an explosive device had been found at the bottom of a dry lake.
