Since the beginning of the year, more than €1.74 million has been collected from the sale of agricultural land. Most of it goes to the State Defence Fund, the National Land Office (NŽT) has announced.

At present, 2 805 applications for the acquisition of 2 592 ha of land are still pending, while 2 211 applications have been rejected.

The Office notes that state agricultural land can be acquired in non-urbanised areas suitable for agricultural activities. The area of a single parcel may not exceed 3 hectares, and the total area of land acquired from the State for a single natural or legal person may not exceed 21 hectares. When taken together with the agricultural land of related persons, the limit is 500 hectares.

The land may be purchased by persons who have been registered as a farmer for at least three years or who have professional training in farming and who have declared their income from farming activities during the last three years.

Then legal persons must be agricultural producers whose income from marketable agricultural production represents more than 50 % of their total income in the last three years.
