A hunter in the US state of Virginia has been killed after shooting a bear that had fallen into a tree, the USA Today reported on Tuesday.The bear was driven into the tree by a group of hunters, the newspaper said. The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources confirmed to the newspaper that the bear hit the hunter after falling from the tree. The incident occurred on 9 December and the 58-year-old hunter was taken to hospital and died on Friday.

Preliminary investigations showed that the hunters drove the bear into a tree and one of them shot the animal. The bear fell and struck a member of a group of hunters who were standing about three metres away from the tree.
