A man in Poland kept a woman in a pigsty and tortured her for more than five years. The news station „Polsat News“ reported, citing the prosecutor's office, that the 35-year-old man is charged with extreme cruelty. He is accused of physically and mentally torturing and raping a woman five years younger than him.

The woman was, among other things, denied access to water and hygiene products. If convicted, the man from the village of Gaiki near Glogovo faces up to 25 years in prison.

The prosecutor told the station that the hospital had contacted the authorities. The woman was brought to the clinic with a dislocated shoulder, but the extent of her previous injuries shocked medics. According to „Polsat News“, the woman had given birth to a baby at the hospital some time ago, which was given up for adoption.

„I couldn't tell the doctors the truth, I was scared because he threatened that it would be worse if I complained“, – the 30-year-old told local news portal „Myglogow.pl“. The investigation continues.

According to the portal, the woman met the man online. The village of Gaikio is located almost 90 km north-west of Wrocław.
