On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree confiscating the assets of several international companies, including “Nestlé” and “Auchan”,

Other companies mentioned include “Bati Logistics”, ‘FM Logistics’ and ‘Le Monlid LLC’, whose assets, according to Russian media reports, together with those of ‘Nestlé’„and ‘Auchan’, have been transferred for temporary management to the Russian joint-stock company ‘L.E.V. Management’, according to the Ukrainian website ‘The Kyiv Independent’.

“Nestlé” and “Auchan” did not leave the Russian market after Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022; instead, they simply changed their business model. According to data from the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE), “Nestlé” withdrew several of its key brands, ceased advertising and halted capital investment in Russia. Meanwhile, the French company “Auchan” handed over its Russian subsidiary to local management in 2023, classifying itself as an essential civilian service and refusing to withdraw.
