Panevėžys district farmers express their problems to the Minister of Agriculture

Minister of Agriculture Ignas Hofmanis meeting with farmers took place at the Municipality of Panevėžys District. The event was attended by the Mayor of the Municipality Antanas Pocius, the Chairwoman of the Panevėžys Branch of the Lithuanian Farmers' Union Danguolė Kuzmienė, the Head of the Agriculture Department of the Municipality Administration Zita Bakanienė and specialists, representatives of the municipalities.

Mayor A. Pocius presented to the participants of the event the Municipality's topical issues: the approved budget, allocations for the ongoing programmes, the ongoing and planned projects in the fields of economy, social support, construction and infrastructure, education. The current status and prospects of water and wastewater projects were highlighted.

Z. Bakanienė, Head of the Agriculture Division, focused on land reclamation issues.

Farmers were informed about the procedure for prioritisation of the management of drainage facilities, removal and repair of emergency failures of drainage structures and drainage systems in accordance with the requests received from applicants.

Z. Bakanienė informed that last year a record amount of more than EUR 1 million was allocated from the Municipality's budget for the repair of drainage facilities and water management projects. This year, around €600 thousand will be allocated. The works carried out in the district to repair land reclamation, hydraulic engineering and other engineering structures, which have been carried out and are being carried out to improve the conditions for agricultural activities, to create a favourable infrastructure and a better quality environment, are presented.
