Vilnius Poultry Farm resumes operations after fire

After a fire broke out on Thursday in the premises of the meat shop of the company „Vilniaus paukštynas“, the company announced that it had resumed its operations on Friday night

„The fresh meat shop has been fully cleaned and disinfected. Operations resumed on 12 September at 2 a.m., after ensuring that it was safe to work and after coordinating with the responsible authorities and obtaining their confirmation that production could resume," the company said.

After the fire was noticed, all the necessary services were called, the workers were safely evacuated and the fire was completely extinguished in about an hour.

According to the company, one employee required medical attention at the time of the incident.

„One employee, who was taken to hospital and kept under observation, is expected to be discharged home today, as far as we know," „Vilniaus paukštynas“ said.

What could have caused the fire on the premises, the company said it will be able to answer once the expert opinion is available.

ELTA reminds that the General Emergency Centre was informed at 11.03 a.m. on Thursday that an industrial building had caught fire in the village of Rudamina, Gamyklos Street, in the Vilnius district. It turned out that a fire had broken out in the building of the company „Vilniaus paukštynas“.
