Latvia produced 9.3 thousand tonnes of dairy products for sale last year, or 6.1% more than in 2023, according to provisional figures released by the National Statistical Office.

Production of cream rose by 15 per cent, fermented milk products by 4.8 per cent, cheese and curd by 5.1 per cent, drinking milk by 3.7 per cent and butter by 1.6 per cent.

Latvian processors bought 833,700 tonnes of raw milk last year, up 5,200 tonnes or 0.6 per cent compared to the previous year.

The average farm-gate milk price in Latvia in 2024 was 14.4% higher than in 2023 – €406.27 per tonne.
