From vision to key: a modern farm designed for the farmer's convenience
When we talk about modern dairy farming, we increasingly hear the words „automation“, „efficiency“, „animal welfare“. But behind these words are concrete solutions, months of planning and a clear vision – to create a farm that is good for people and good for animals. This is exactly the kind of project that „Dotnuva Baltic“ has implemented in Milaitici, on the farm of farmer Žilvinas Oberauskas.
A modern, advanced and animal welfare-friendly 244-bed farm – a project that started with a blank field and a clear vision and was implemented "from design to turnkey".
„I am delighted that „Dotnuva Baltic“, by becoming the general contractor, not only assumed the full responsibility of managing the project, but also delivered it to the farmer's expectations. For him, this meant one partner, clear communication and a smooth process. Of course, the success of the project also depends on the right choice of partners, and we thank UAB „Raseinių statyba“, MB „Kėdainių projektai“, UAB „Investra“ and UAB „Investra“;Boumatic HerdLine“ for their contribution and the final result, which I believe today can truly be a model farm,“ – said Alfonsas Genys, Product Manager of „Dotnuva Baltic“.
Robotic milking and automatic feeding system
The farm is equipped with two UAB „BouMatic Herdline“ milking robots with milk analyser. These solutions not only automate the milking process, but also allow real-time monitoring of the performance and health of each cow. This undoubtedly allows for more efficient farm operations.
Data on milk composition, activity and other indicators allows you to react quickly to changes, prevent potential problems and manage your herd more accurately.
The farm also has an automated belt feeding system „Pellon“, which ensures regular and even feed distribution. This solution allows for optimised feed use, reduced labour costs and a stable ration for the cows.
Cow welfare – not an add-on but a priority
On this farm, special attention is paid to animal comfort. The solutions put in place show that a modern farm today starts with animal welfare first and foremost.
• Automatic ventilation system with water spray – a solution to help maintain optimum temperatures on hot days. This is one of the first such solutions to be implemented in partnership with „Dotnuva Baltic“.
• „Spinder“ beds – comfortable, ergonomic resting places that contribute to better productivity and fewer injuries.
• Automatic lighting tailored to the cow's biological rhythm – the right light regime has a direct impact on milk yield and animal wellbeing.
A farm where technology works for people
Zilvinas Oberauskas Farm – is an example of what a modern dairy farm looks like when a project is implemented in a consistent and systematic way.
It's not just a new building. It's a thoughtful investment in efficiency, animal welfare and sustainable farm growth. The farm is equipped with a power plant to provide electricity and reduce energy costs, and a Freon–water recovery system uses heat energy to heat the water. These solutions not only make the farm more sustainable, but also significantly reduce operating costs
The installation of modern farm solutions automates part of the daily operations, allowing the farm to organise its work processes more efficiently in the future. Milking robots and other systems are controlled by smart apps and require less constant staff attention than traditional methods.
Two additional milking robots are planned to be installed on the Oberauskas' farm in the near future, which will further optimise and improve the efficiency of the farm's operations.
