Poland remains one of the leading strawberry producers in the European Union
Poland remains one of the largest strawberry producers in the European Union, although the country’s strawberry growers are facing yet another difficult season due to frosts and heavy rain, according to official statistics.
According to data from the National Agricultural Agency (KOWR), Spain is the only country that produces more strawberries than Poland. In 2025, Polish farmers grew 151,000 tonnes of strawberries – 5 per cent less than the previous year, accounting for 13 per cent of EU production, according to the public broadcaster’s news portal “TVP World”.
Strawberries are one of the most popular seasonal foods in Poland, but they are also an important export product: in recent years, 45–70 per cent of the country’s strawberry harvest has been sold abroad.
Last year, Poland sold 74,000 tonnes of strawberries abroad, mostly frozen, and earned €166 million, despite export volumes being lower than in 2024. Germany, France and the Netherlands were among the main buyers.
It is worth noting that Polish strawberries have gained worldwide recognition for their flavour. In 2025, varieties grown in the Kashubia region in north-western Poland took second place in the food encyclopaedia „Taste Atlas“ compiled by the food encyclopaedia “Taste Atlas”.
