On Thursday, Ignas Hofmanas left the Ministry of Agriculture and handed over the ministerial portfolio to Andrius Palionis, who had previously served as Deputy Minister in Hofmanas' team.

In his farewell to the ministry, Mr Hofmann posted a warm message about his last day as minister.

„Today is my last day as Minister of Agriculture. It has been an extremely difficult decision to take this post and I can assure you that the job of a Minister is a very difficult one, especially when you want to get as many things done as possible. One of the components of being a Minister is – great responsibility, so I am very relieved to leave this position," wrote Mr Hofman on „Facebook“.

He said he was handing over his duties to the new minister, Andris Palionis.

„I have invited Andrius to join my political team as Deputy Minister, trusting his competence. I am therefore confident that Andrius will be as good a Minister as he was when he was Deputy Minister. Andrius was part of my team, so he is well aware of the works and initiatives already started in the Ministry, including my ideas, concepts, initiated and started works, which I hope, among other things, he will not only continue, but most importantly, will complete successfully," Palionis hopes.

In the message, he thanked his colleagues, the nineteenth ministers of the Government, the members of the Seimas, the community of farmers and agriculturalists for their joint work, for the problems they raised, for the proposals they made, for their constructive work, and for their well-founded criticism.

„I would like to express my gratitude to the members of my political team, especially to those who have given up their previous jobs just to come to my team. It has been an immensely responsible, enormous, invaluable experience," Palionis concludes.
