In the Vilnius district – an accident resulting in a fatality. Heavy machinery rolled down a farmyard, fatally injuring the owner, whose body was only discovered several hours later.

According to officials, the gruesome discovery was made on Sunday morning, 21 June, at around 7.51 am, in the yard of a farmstead in the village of Liepiškiai, Vilnius District. A tractor was found there, having rolled down a hill or from its parking spot, with the body of a deceased man, born in 1969, lying pinned beneath one of its wheels.

According to the preliminary investigation, the accident itself occurred earlier – on the evening of Saturday, 20 June, at around 7 pm. Initial assessments suggest that the man attempted to control or stop the tractor, which had suddenly started rolling, but the vehicle knocked him over and fatally injured him. As the man was most likely alone at the farmstead, he was unable to call for help, and the consequences of the tragedy were only noticed the following morning.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched into this incident. Officials are continuing to investigate in detail all the circumstances of the tragic incident and the technical causes of the tractor’s movement.
