Fines for farmers in HIP-HOP (VIDEO)
The State Territorial Planning and Building Inspectorate has already started issuing violation reports to Lithuanian farmers who allegedly do not respect the sanitary distances between national roads and crops.
The joint stock company „Via Lietuva“, responsible for the maintenance of 21 000 kilometres of national roads, recently issued a report that cultivated land on national roads belonging to farmers or agricultural companies is being planted in violation of the boundaries of the land they own, i.e. part of the right-of-way is ploughed up and sown. This not only damages the road infrastructure, but most importantly, it endangers traffic safety," the report says.
For their part, the farmers, who gathered at the invitation of Jan Udo Sparenborg, a farmer from Šiauliai district, believe that the "VIA Lietuva" itself does not ensure safety, as roadsides are only hayed for about a metre instead of the required 3-4 metres.
„Agrobite“ visited Jan Udo Sparenborg at the farm's fields for a meeting of farmers with the responsible civil servants. See what the inspectors found and what's next in this „Agrobite play“ report.
