Latvia's dairy production increased by almost ten per cent last year

Latvia produced 14.4 thousand tonnes, or 9.6%, more products last year than in 2024, up from 164.9 thousand tonnes in 2024, the national statistics office said on the basis of provisional data.

Growth was recorded in the production of all dairy products, with increases of 5.2 per cent in drinking milk alone, 13.8 per cent in fermented milk, 15.7 per cent in butter, 12.9 per cent in cheese and 0.5 per cent in cream.

Latvian processors bought 839.5 thousand tonnes of raw milk last year, 5.8 thousand tonnes or 0.7% more than the previous year.

The average farm gate milk price in Latvia in 2025 was 17.4% higher than in 2024 &ndash €477.03 per tonne.

The highest raw milk price last year was recorded in February at €490.15 per tonne.
