It was Udo who proposed the Green Cross campaign to Lithuanian farmers, following the Green Cross campaign initiated in Germany at the time.
If, as Udo says, he had gone back 15 years, he would never have thought of linking his future with Lithuania.
"The first months in Lithuania were terrible. It always seemed to be raining here," Udo recalls of his first months in Lithuania, when it was very rainy.
