Ship carrying thousands of sheep sinks off Yemen (VIDEO)
On 26 April, a ship carrying thousands of sheep capsized off the coast of Aden, near Yemeni territorial waters.
Activists released footage showing how the ship could soon capsize and sink in the Gulf of Aden.
A group of Yemeni fishermen allowed the activists to use their boats to rescue the boat's crew and livestock.
The boat was coming from Somalia with cargo. No further details have been released so far.
Similar incidents recur from time to time. In late December 2023, a ship carrying 16,000 sheep and cattle from Australia to the Middle East was stranded in the Red Sea. Australian officials then abandoned the voyage due to Yemeni Houthi militants attacking the ships, and the animals were trapped on board for weeks due to the intense heat.
In 2022, a transhipment ship carrying tens of thousands of sheep sank in Sudan's Savakine port in the Red Sea.Follow video updates on our „Agrobite play“ channel on the „Youtube“ network.
