Milk purchase price in June was 8% higher than last year

The farm gate milk price also remained a quarter above the long-term average last month, according to the Agricultural Data Centre. The average milk price for the 2017-2021 period was 29.9 cents per kilogram.

Purchasing companies paid an average of 41.3 cents per kilo to large milk producers this June – 5.4% more than at the same time last year. In Lithuania, large raw material suppliers are defined as those who sell more than 40 tonnes of milk per month.

These suppliers accounted for 62% of all raw milk bought in the country this June. The share of milk purchases from large producers has increased by 5% over the year (compared to 57% in June last year).
According to the Agricultural Data Centre, 123.25 thousand tonnes of milk were bought this June, up 3.5% compared to June last year, the report said.
