One of Europe's largest surimi and fish processing companies „Vičiūnų grupė“, partly controlled by Kaunas Mayor Visvaldas Matijošaitis, has announced that it is entering the US market with the registration of a new company, „VG Trading USA Inc.“

The company will import products from „Vičiūnų Gruppe“ companies operating in Europe, distribute them in the local market, seek new business partners and cooperate with retail chains, the group said on Thursday.

According to the group, the establishment of the new company is a "strategic response to the dynamically changing market conditions".

„Despite challenges such as rising customs costs or logistical uncertainty, the decision to operate in the US through a local company is an important one to ensure flexibility, sustainable growth and long-term relationships with partners and customers,“ the statement said.

„VG Trading USA Inc.“ was officially incorporated on 28 February. It is headed by Egidijus Stankus, who has been with the group for 17 years.

Preparatory work is currently underway in the USA to build the team, establish contacts with distributors, and fine-tune the product range to meet the needs of US consumers.

The Group also has production facilities in Estonia and Spain, as well as distribution facilities in Latvia, France, Estonia, Belgium, Spain, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania and Germany.

„Vičiūnų grupė“ announces that it supplies 57 countries worldwide.

Pernai Group has sold its businesses in Russia, Belarus and other Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries to Russia's „Ocean Group“ a crab stick factory in Russia's Kaliningrad region, and logistics and trading companies in 7 other countries, – 15 companies in total.

„Vičiūnų grupa“ the ultimate beneficiaries are V. Matijošaitis and Liudas Skierus, who each control 50% of its shares.
