Egg consumption in Estonia almost doubles production

Estonia's Statistics Estonia has traditionally released data on the country's egg market ahead of Easter, which shows that egg consumption in Estonia continues to be almost double production.

Last year, the country's egg production increased by 6% to 189.5 million eggs, which only met 53% of demand.

Egg consumption in Estonia grew at a faster pace last year, rising by 9% to 356.1 million eggs, or 259 eggs for every person in the country.

In 2014-2018, Estonia produced around 200 million eggs each year. In 2019, production dropped sharply to 154 million before recovering in recent years.

The main exporters of eggs to Estonia are Latvia and Poland.
