20% less funding for agriculture. Here's what will change (VIDEO)

Agriculture Minister Andrius Palionis briefed journalists at a breakfast meeting in Vilnius on Tuesday on the latest information on the financing of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the support that could be available to farmers in the next funding period.

"The whole principle is changing fundamentally. And modelling is still very difficult (...) There is a lack of a lot of accompanying legislation from the European Commission on how it has been calculated, what has been assessed and how we will have to deal with it," said Andrius Palionis.

Lithuania has so far secured an agricultural funding budget of €4.386 billion, he said, but that is not the end of the story.

The minister also outlined the new developments expected in the support for farmers.
