Meat production in Germany almost unchanged in 2025

 Germany produced an estimated 6.9 million tonnes of meat last year, almost the same as in 2024, according to preliminary figures released by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).

Last year, the country slaughtered 48.5 million pigs, large horned animals, sheep, goats and horses, as well as 697.3 million poultry.

Pig slaughterings alone were 0.6% higher than the previous year at 44.9 million, while pork production increased by 1.1% to around 4.3 million tonnes.

While poultrymeat production remained almost unchanged at around 1.6 million tonnes, of which 1.1 million tonnes were chicken, which increased by 3.6 percent.
