The American Society for Agricultural and Biological Engineering (ASABE) announced the winners of the prestigious AE50 Awards in mid-February, and the 50 most innovative agricultural technology solutions of the year include two „Fendt“ tractors - the „Fendt 800 Vario“ and the next generation of „Fendt 1000 Vario“. These awards are given annually to only fifty of the world's most advanced agricultural machinery products, and aim to highlight solutions with the highest level of innovation, technological advancement and real market impact.

The AE50 Awards have been running since 1986 and the ASABE organisation itself has been in existence since 1907, making it one of the world's most important awards in agricultural engineering. Of the 50 solutions selected each year, 10 are then eligible for the even higher „Davidson Prize“, from which three absolute technology leaders of the year are chosen.

As of 2020, as many as 16 „Fendt“ products have already been awarded the AE50 prize, and in 2026, two such prizes were awarded simultaneously.

The fifth generation of the „Fendt 800 Vario“ has been completely redesigned and is equipped with a six-cylinder „AGCO Power CORE80“ engine with a displacement of 8 litres and a maximum power output of 343 hp.

In addition to high performance, the jury highlighted the low fuel consumption achieved by the „VarioDrive“ transmission, the integrated „VarioGrip“ tyre pressure regulation system, the high performance hydraulic system with dual pump and the engine's self-cleaning air filter. In addition, the tractor is equipped with a new cab with „FendtONE“ control system and „UltraVision“ lighting concept.

The fourth generation of the „Fendt 1000 Vario“ stands out as the world's largest standard series tractor, while maintaining its compact design and manoeuvrability. The engine power of this series reaches up to 550 hp and the „VarioDrive“ technology allows automatic power distribution between the axles.

The tractor can also operate with reduced power stages, saving fuel and protecting the machine. All four models can be equipped with the „VarioGrip“ system. Operator comfort is enhanced by additional footrests, a massaging seat and the new „UltraVision“ lighting system.

Both models were introduced to the US market at the country's largest agricultural shows, the „Farm Progress Show“ and the „National Farm Machinery Show“, where the new „Fendt 1000 Vario Gen4“ was also on display on 11–14 February 2026.
