Sad news for the countryside: 5 times fewer small pig farmers (VIDEO)
In 10 years, the number of small pig farmers in Lithuania has fallen by a factor of five, from 15,000 to 3,000 farms.
Agis Baravikas, the head of the Lithuanian Pig Breeders Association, was unsparingly attacked by the Minister of Agriculture Andrius Palionis, who said that small farms do not comply with biosecurity requirements, their pigs are infected with African swine fever (ASF), and that large commercial farms in the buffer zones are unable to sell their products and are suffering from the losses.
