Milk purchases in Latvia in 2025 are expected to increase by 0.5% this year.
Latvia bought 838.29 thousand tonnes of raw milk last year, 0.5% more than in 2024, according to data released by the Latvian Rural Support Service.
Last month, milk purchases fell by 1.1% to 65.68 thousand tonnes compared to a year earlier.
The volume of organic milk alone was 9.5% lower than the previous year at 35.29 thousand tonnes.
The number of milking cows in the country decreased by 1.4% to 111.26 thousand last year, of which those to be used for milk production decreased by 3.8% to 100.29 thousand.
