The National Paying Agency will start on 18 December to pay aid to applicants who have suffered frost damage and who have submitted applications under the Frost Damage Support for Agricultural Operators in the case of Frost Damage to Orchards and Berry Crops in 2025 rules. By the end of the year, compensation will reach all orchard and berry-garden operators who have suffered damage.

368 beneficiaries affected by frost in 2025 will receive €3.3 million in aid.

The compensation for losses will be granted to applicants who meet the following conditions:

  • declared agricultural areas and crops in the year 2025 in accordance with the rules on the application for support for agricultural areas and other areas and for livestock and on the administration and control of direct payments;
  • is registered in the register of agriculture and rural business of the Republic of Lithuania as a holder or partner in an agricultural holding by 31 December 2024 at the latest inclusive;
  • has contacted by letter the administration of the municipality in which the affected orchards or berry-gardens are located for an assessment of the damage to the orchards and berry-gardens caused by the frost in April and May 2025;
  • the applicant is not bankrupt or being wound up.

The rules of the measure provide for compensation for applicants whose affected areas and the extent of damage to orchards and berry-growing areas in 2025 have been determined by the commissions set up by the municipalities to assess the effects of the frost by 20 July 2025.

Farm ministry misses €0.5 million for farmers affected by frost

Euro 3.3 million has been allocated to compensate orchard and berry growers for losses caused by spring frosts, while farmers are still short of €0.5 million, Deputy Agriculture Minister Gediminas Tamašauskis said.

Applications have been submitted for €3.8 million, as the amount of demand exceeds the possibilities – everything will be recalculated proportionally and the payment of compensation will be slightly reduced, the deputy minister said.
