Hunting on the side of the road: a bullet in the car, police investigate

A bullet fired by a hunter in the Kėdainiai district may have hit a car on the road, but the Lithuanian Hunters' and Fishermen's Association (LFSA) urges not to jump to conclusions yet.

There were no injuries. On examination of the car, a hole and a bullet were observed in the front right side pillar.

It is alleged that the bullet may have been fired by a hunter as hunting was taking place at the time. While the police are conducting a pre-trial investigation, the LMWD has issued a statement that it does not deny that a hunter may have been involved in the incident.

„The Lithuanian Hunters' and Fishermen's Association is aware of an incident in which a bullet reportedly fired by a hunter may have struck a car on the road“, – the LWF said.

The Society also points out that „the relevant hunting club of Kėdainiai district is cooperating with law enforcement authorities in order to clarify all the circumstances of the incident as soon as possible and objectively“.

„We sincerely regret the situation and apologise to the public. Such random incidents are intolerable and contravene hunting safety requirements, which must be strictly adhered to," the LWF said in a statement.

According to the society, „the situation is unpleasant, but let's not jump to conclusions — all the circumstances are currently being clarified“.

„We will provide further information on the details of the incident and the progress of the investigation as soon as we have more reliable and official information“, – the statement said.
