Lithuanian timber exports fell by 2.4% last year.

The value of exports of meat and meat products from Lithuania fell by 2.4% to EUR 4.2 billion last year, while imports fell by 0.1% to EUR 1.7 billion, according to the State Forest Service.

Exports of some timber and timber products increased in volume last year but decreased in value, it said. Meanwhile, imports did not fall as fast as the country's overall imports, increasing their share from 3.7% to 4%.

The value of exported sawn timber rose by 12% over the year, while roundwood – rose by 10%. The share of this sector in the country's total exports rose from 10.7% to 11.4% over the year. 

Lumber exports grew by 14% to 1.1 million cubic metres, imports by 4% to 581,000 cubic metres, and roundwood and roundwood by 19% and a quarter to 1.8 million cubic metres and 417,000 cubic metres, respectively. 

Latvian sales last year were 896,000 cubic metres of roundwood (4% more than in 2023), followed by Sweden's 321,000 cubic metres (twice as much), Poland's 239,000 cubic metres (17% less), Finland's 157,000 cubic metres (up by a third), and China's 132,000 cubic metres (up 6.3 times).

Lithuania exported €2.32 billion worth of furniture last year – 3% less than the year before, while imports – worth €338 million – 3% less. 

The value of imported paper and paper products grew by 4% last year, while the value of fibreboard – fell by 2%, wooden containers – by 11% and pellets and briquettes – by 46%.
