New coffee harvest forecast to reach record volumes
According to the latest estimates by the US Department of Agriculture, the new worldwide kava harvest could be 2.5% higher than the previous one, reaching a record volume of 178.68 million sacks (60 kilograms).
The harvest of arabica coffee is forecast to fall by 1.7% to 97.02 million bags, but that of robusta – will rise by 7.9% to 81.66 million bags.
Increased production could lead to a 4.9 per cent increase in end-of-season carryover stocks to 22.82 million bags.
Arabica prices have fallen in recent days to their lowest level since mid-January, following reports of improved weather conditions in Brazil's main coffee-growing states.
At the turn of 2024 and 2025, and in the first months of this year, global coffee prices soared to record highs amid concerns about insufficient supplies of arabica from Brazil.
