LDAA at FRUIT LOGISTICA 2026 in Berlin
On 4–6 February 2026, Berlin becomes the world's business hub for fresh fruit and vegetables for the 33rd time with the international exhibition FRUIT LOGISTICA 2026. The event brings together the entire value chain of the sector: from growers and processors to marketing networks, logistics, technology and innovators. Among the thousands of international exhibitors, the Lithuanian Vegetable Growers' Association (LDAA) is also presenting vegetables grown in Lithuania and the potential of the country's growers to the international market.
FRUIT LOGISTICA has been held since 1993 and over more than three decades has become the most important global platform for the fresh fruit and vegetable sector. In 2026, around 2,600 exhibitors from some 90 countries and business visitors from more than 150 countries are expected, which once again confirms the event's scale and international impact.
Vegetable production in Europe: stability and resilience
The context of the show is also reinforced by the latest data from the European Statistical Yearbook 2026. The total European vegetable harvest is around 58.12 million tonnes – just 0.3% less than the previous year. Although a decrease of around 1.2 million tonnes was recorded in 2025 after the exceptionally large tomato harvest in 2024, the overall result remained stable due to higher yields of other vegetables – in particular onions and cabbage &ndash. Late season vegetables such as cabbage and carrots have gained weight late in the season, which once again confirms the sector's ability to adapt to changing conditions.
Internal market – the backbone of European tradeMost of Europe's fruit and vegetable production remains on the EU-27 internal market. Exports to third countries account for around 23% of vegetable and 17% of fruit exports. In 2025, imports of vegetables from non-EU countries amounted to around 2.38 million tonnes and of fruit to 12.89 million tonnes, mainly exotic products such as bananas. Germany remains the largest and most important market within the EU, leading both in terms of import volumes and as a major trade destination.
Innovations that shape the future
FRUIT LOGISTICA 2026 innovation – not theory but practical solutions. For the 20th time, the FRUIT LOGISTICA Innovation Awards (FLIA) will be presented to recognise technologies and products that improve efficiency, sustainability and competitiveness. The show also introduces a new format, the New Product Showcases, which showcases cutting-edge innovations, from new varieties and artificial intelligence-based greenhouse solutions to sustainable substrates and recyclable packaging.
The Startup World area also plays a special role, where young companies present solutions for automated quality control, disease monitoring, robotics and packaging. Artificial intelligence and automation are already transforming manufacturing, logistics and commerce today, and are fast emerging as a key competitive advantage.Lithuanian growers – part of international solutions
The participation of the Association of Lithuanian Vegetable Growers in FRUIT LOGISTICA 2026 – is an opportunity not only to present Lithuanian production, but also to actively participate in the discussions on the future of the market, innovation and sustainable solutions. The LDAA stand becomes a place where the experience and quality of Lithuanian vegetable growers meet international trade partners, and Lithuania establishes itself as a reliable, modern and competitive vegetable producer in Europe and globally.
FRUIT LOGISTICA 2026 reaffirms its role as an event where markets, people and solutions meet and where the future of the global fruit and vegetable market is shaped and where Lithuanian growers are confidently positioned.
