African plague outbreak at the Institute of Animal Husbandry pig farm in Baisogala
A swine fever outbreak has been confirmed on Saturday at the pig farm of the Institute of Animal Husbandry of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences in the town of Baisogala, Radviliskis district.
According to the declared data, 392 pigs are kept at the farm, reports the State Food and Veterinary Service (VMVT).
According to the Authority, two other commercial farms with around 8,000 pigs are also under restrictions.
As BNS reported, the last outbreak of African swine fever in Lithuania was recorded at the end of October at the pig complex of the company „Cestos maistas“ in the village of Poškaičiai in Vilnius district, where about 19 000 pigs were kept at the time of the outbreak. It was then decided to liquidate the farm.
