Lithuanian grain growers donate funds to the warring family. Destroyed pick-up truck needs replacement
With US President Donald Trump announcing the cessation of military and financial support to Ukraine, European countries will seek to compensate, at least in part, for this loss. However, on a much smaller level, the Ukrainians are supported by individual organisations. Here, the entire family of Ivan Varchenko is trying to fight back against the aggressors. All the family's support comes from Lithuanian grain farmers.
„We can be proud that the Ukrainians are fighting with jeeps bought by grain growers“, says Antanas Kliunka, one of the co-leaders of Anthanas Kliunka, a mission "Soldiers for soldiers", who is going to Ukraine on Wednesday again, adding that there were some difficulties this time around.
Olexiy (22 years old), the son of the younger Ivan Varchenko, who is fighting on the Torecko front (Donetsk region), reported that the occupiers destroyed a pickup truck bought with the funds of members of the Lithuanian Association of Cereal Growers with an FVO drone. „We are alive, but we have lost a pickup truck, which is very necessary for our tasks, can you help us?“ – Oleksejs appealed to the mission "Warriors for warriors".
„We invite you to respond to the request of the young Oleksej Varchenko and buy him a much-needed pickup truck“,– A. Kliunka appeals to Lithuanian farmers, also mentioning the account of the Lithuanian Cereal Growers' Association: Luminor Bank AS a./s. LT684010042500033411, please specify „Support“ in the destination.
Dmirto, the eldest son of I. Varchenko, has been fighting against the invaders since 2014. He also uses a pick-up truck donated by Lithuanians. In three years, Dmirto has become the commander of an unmanned battalion. His daughter Lina also tries to help the soldiers by making her own lollipops, selling them at the market and donating the money to the army.
All three men fight in jeeps bought by Lithuanian farmers. "The biggest thanks go to Virginijus Čėnas and Aušris Macijauskas, who also received certificates of appreciation from the military administration of Kherson region," says Antanas Kliunka, one of the leaders of the mission "Warriors for Warriors".
