The price of milk in Lithuania has risen by 30% over the year.
The average price of natural milk in Lithuania increased by 30.3% year-on-year in February to €550.2 per tonne (excl. VAT) and by 0.2% month-on-month in February compared to January this year.
The average buying-in price for the baseline milk increased by 29% year-on-year to €423.9 per tonne, according to the Agricultural Data Centre. 
Large milk producers selling more than 40 tonnes of milk per month paid an average of €580.1 for natural milk in February, up 28.1% year-on-year, while small milk producers paid €476.6, or 34.4% more.
According to Irma Jankauskiene, Head of the Centre's Market Information and Economic Analysis Unit, similar prices are expected to continue, but seasonality is expected to lead to a slight decrease in the short term. 
According to the Agricultural Data Centre, prices in Lithuania have started to outperform the European Union (EU) average since November last year – in EU countries, preliminary data show that in February, the price averaged €537.3 per tonne – up 15.8% compared to the same time last year.
Raw milk prices are influenced by climatic conditions, geopolitical situation and other global factors which make it difficult to predict how they will evolve in the longer term.
In February, 98.7 thousand tonnes of milk were bought in Lithuania, 3.3% less than in February 2024.
