Is the allocation of €100,000 for the Academy of Agriculture's Livestock Exhibition justified? We threw the money away! (VIDEO)

Agriculture Minister Andris Palionis had to answer a question from „Agrobite play“ channel during a breakfast meeting with journalists on the question of whether it was justified to allocate EUR 100 000 to the Academy of Agriculture of the State University of Latvia for the organisation of the exhibition "Animal Husbandry", when the exhibition itself was organised at a time when farmers were working in the fields.

The exhibition itself took place without livestock. Poor communication of the event, visitor drought and exorbitant fees for exhibition space – these are the main criticisms that businesses have been leveling at the organisers of the show.

For example, the VMU ŽŪA was charging exhibitors around €50-53 per square metre, while it takes around 80-100 square metres of space to set up 2-3 pieces of machinery. This alone costs companies between €4,000 and €5,000, not to mention bringing everything in, setting up, decorating the stand, and distracting the staff from their work.

See how Minister Palionis sees the situation in this video and don't forget to subscribe to the „Agrobite play“ channel, which asks the uncomfortable questions too.
